ctrlX AUTOMATION – Node-RED

The Node-RED app is the Node-RED framework adapted for ctrlX AUTOMATION by Bosch Rexroth.
The open-source tool Node-RED is licensed under the Apache 2.0 license and was developed by IBM as a graphical development tool.
The framework is based on Node.js and is operated via a graphical user interface in the browser.
With Node-RED, different nodes for input, output, and processing can be connected in a so-called flow.
This allows data processing as well as the monitoring and control of various processes or devices.

Node-RED User Interface – Flow Editor

The Flow Editor consists of three main areas:

1. Node Panel (left) – Contains a list of installed and available nodes. These are categorized, such as input and output nodes, and can be expanded via the package manager.
2. Sheets Panel (middle) – The workspace with the so-called flows. Here, nodes can be added via drag & drop, connected, and configured.
3. Info and Debug Panel (right) – Contains tabs for additional information:
   • Info Tab: Displays the description of a selected node.
   • Debug Tab: Lists debug messages or internal errors.

Node-RED Dashboard

The Node-RED Dashboard tab provides access to a live data dashboard, which is created using a set of nodes from the Flow Editor.
The dashboard layout is based on a grid, where different objects can be arranged according to application needs.
